Our School Day

We work with Kiveton Park Meadows Junior School and Wales High School to ensure our start and finish times do not inconvenience parents with children at more than one school.

The school gates open at 8.25am. Teachers will collect their classes at 8.30am and the register begins at 8.35am. The gates are locked at 8.40am, so please aim to be off the school grounds by that time. If arriving after 8.40am, you will need to come in through the main entrance.

The end of the school day is 3.00pm. The gates open at 2.50pm for parents/carers to wait for their children.

These hours mean that school is open for 6 hours and 30 minutes a day, which is 32 hours and 30 minutes a week.

Our nursery times are 8.40am-2.50pm.

Attendance

Regular attendance is extremely important for your child’s wellbeing and progress. We realise that young children are sometimes poorly and need to stay at home, but we would like to encourage you to ensure that your child comes to school whenever they can.

Sometimes it can be difficult to make a judgement on whether your child should come to school. Please see the guidance below for information to support you to decide wheather your child should stay home from school or not.

School Uniform

We ask all our pupils to wear our school uniform both in school and when representing the school at off-site venues. Wearing school uniform helps develop pride in the school and gives the children a feeling of belonging. It also saves time in the morning!

We expect the children to wear grey or black trousers, skirts or dresses, white polo top or shirt and a burgundy jumper or cardigan (with or without the school logo). Gingham summer dresses may also be worn.

For PE children should wear black or navy shorts and a plain white t-shirt – no football kits or gym wear, please. Children will also need pumps/trainers and a tracksuit or jogging bottoms/leggings and a jacket for when PE lessons take place outside. This is usually at the start of the autumn term (September/October) and the middle of the Spring term onwards.

School uniform is available to purchase from Pinders.

Please see our Uniform Policy for more information.

School Meals

View Menu

SchoolGrid Website

Cooked meals are provided in the school Hall at lunchtime. The school operates the choice system of cooked meals, with a menu provided by Dolce School Catering. Provision is also made for those children who wish to bring sandwich meals.  The children are taught table manners and sensible behaviour so that they can learn to enjoy their meals in a social setting.

Parents are encouraged to order their child’s meals in advance, using the SchoolGrid website.

School meals for all children in FS2, Y1 and Y2 are currently free under the Universal Free School Meals initiative set up by the government.  Parents of children in nursery who stay for lunch can choose to pay for a hot meal, or can send their child with a packed lunch.

Lunch time supervisors are on duty each day in the playground and dining-area, as well as members of the teaching staff.  We also have sports coaches who organise team games and teach sports skills at lunchtimes
