What a busy start to our Nursery classes of 2015/2016. Thank you for supporting us in your Home Visits and start dates. the children have settled in really well and we are enjoying getting to know each and everyone of them within the setting.

We started off with our ‘getting to know each other’ trip to Sherwood Pines in search of Super worm! One of our favourite stories.

We all listened to the story of Julia Donaldson’s Superworm, which Ms Lumb read on the Woodland Story Throne.

After a picnic altogether, we enjoyed playing parachute games together.

Following on from Superworm, we investigated honey by looking at a real honeycomb, as well as spreading it on waffles and experiencing the taste. We now know how Superworm was rescued by trapping the wizard Lizard with honey and spider’s webs.

This term will be an opportunity to look at other stories by Julia Donaldson such as ‘Room on a Broom and Stickman.

The first few weeks will be looking at various celebrations and events such as Bonfire Night, Diwali and Children in Need, as well as consolidating our indoor and learning opportunities. As it gets colder, we will spend time teaching the children to gain greater independence in putting on their own coats. Don’t forget to send children wrapped up to Nursery.

Our next trip will be Sundown Adventure land on Tuesday 1st December. we will write our letters to Father Christmas first and then give them to him on arrival. Keep checking early newsletters for dates for our Christmas Plays. These will take place the week before we break up for Christmas.
