Class News/Blog

What a lovely first week we’ve had in Nursery. The children have settled in beautifully and are already showing some great learning. They’ve made new friendships and enjoyed playing with old friends too. There has also been plenty of opportunities for practising and demonstrating some fantastic physical skills both indoors and outdoors.

One of the stories we’ve listened to this week is ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and the children have enjoyed using the enhanced story telling area to experiment building houses for the pigs.

25th September 2019. These two friends love looking through their Learning Journey folders. In Early Years at KPI we record ‘wow’ moments with photos and notes. We ask parents to send in their own ‘wow’ moments from home too along with a set of photos when a child is the ‘focus child’. These are added to each child’s folder along with work made by the child and detailed focus sheets that are completed when they are the focus child that term.

If your child is in one of our Early Years classes please feel free to have a look through your child’s folder with your child.

26th September 2019. Have you seen our ‘Busy Bags’ Library in Nursery? These bags are available to borrow and contain small games and challenges linked to the Early Years curriculum.

If you’d like to borrow a bag with your Nursery child, please sign the bag out with the sign out book.

26th September 2019. Each week our classes listen to a piece of music and discuss it as a class. This afternoon, Nursery listened to ‘The William Tell Overture’ by Rossini, performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

We talked about the instruments they could see and how the music made them feel. There were new words to learn such as ‘conductor’ and ‘orchestra’. The children really enjoyed this piece of music!

Here is a link if you would like to watch the performance with your child at home:
